Chester Weinberg 1960's Maxi Dress

Chester Weinberg acheived fashion fame in the 1960s and then founded his own company in 1971 which then closed in 1975. Not only a fashion designer, but he also taught at Parsons. Known for his innovative fashions he frequently worked with gigantic prints in bright colors. Well, this dress is a wonderful example of his design work. Bright colors, various textures and prints dominate this dress. Fantastic cotton print done in ivory, black, spice, pumpkin, steel blue, medium blue, navy blue, and chocolate brown. Boat neckline with the back of the neckline forming a "v". Grosgrain ribbons are sewn on as a waistline accent (cummerbund effect) in navy, sky blue, cinnamon and melon. Also, as the waistline there is an appliqué that is sewn on at the left side of the waist. From this accent flow grosgrain ribbons that match the waistline ones. This sewn-on grosgrainribbon treatment is repleated at the hemline. Fully lined. Fabulous addition for the vintage collector.
