Vintage 1950s PHILIP HULITAR Red Satin Cocktail Dress Philip Hulitar worked at the famous and very expensive Bergdorf Goodman department store in NYC as their "house" designer until 1949, then he started his own label. His styles were very bombshell in their look and they always emphasized the curves in a woman's figure. As this very same dress will do - if you have the curves, then this is THE dress you will want for your special occassion! The dress has the "trademark" signiture of Philip Hulitar's designs which is the self-fringed satin sash or belt. This dress is attributed to Philip Hulitar by the original owner who purchased this back in the 1950s. However, there is no label to prove this (other than a number/style tag sewn on the inside of the dress), but it is attributed to this designer. Sexy "V" neckline with a fantastic bodice design that includes a tie accent at the bodice. The tie accent (with wonderful fringe at the ends) is incorporated into the bodice design. Wonderful bodice seaming that will flatter your curves. Beautifully constructed dress with flattering pleated skirt. Very large, full skirt! This dress looks as good leaving a room as it does coming in due to the deep plunging back on this stunner! Fantastic designer construction with quality finishing. Perfect dress for that very special occasion. It is hard to appreciate how beautiful this dress is in the digital photos, as red is so difficult to photograph. Believe me, you will not be disappointed in this absolutely stunning dress!!! Excellent vintage condition. The only thing that was noted upon close inspection is a small, very faint spot (water spot??) near the right hip on the folds of the skirt. Please see last photo for a detail of the area. This spot is not very noticible, especially in evening lighting. Please note we have not had this dress dry cleaned, so with a professional cleaning it should come out.
