HANAE MORI - "One of the first Japanese Designers to break into the international fashion scene beginning in 1960. Hanae Mori has established herself as the first foreigner and the only Japanese member to be admitted into the Paris fashion's governing body, the Chambre Syndicale de la Haute Couture, in 1977. Most known for her spectacular silk and chiffon creations printed with her signature butterfly she also worked in floral patterns suggesting Japanese paintings. In terms, Mori is a classicist of the 'East meets West' aesthetic. Mori is also known for her classic sumptuous luxury daywear and has also designed for the arts, for example the operas Madame Butterfly and Electra and the ballet, Cinderella. " (Courtesy from the Vintage Fashion Guild Label Resource) Here is a great example of a classic and timeless dress by the famous designer Hanae Mori. Beautiful shade of violet fabric that is 100% wool. Flattering design to this dress that hides figure flaws and skims over the body. Classic shift dress silhouette that is so forgiving! Long sleeves with cuff and button. Eight Lucite faceted buttons with a spiral gold center are attractively placed down the front of the dress and provide closure. These buttons cause the eye to travel up and down for a long and lean look. Tie accent at back of dress that also repeats the same button at the center. Fully lined in a matching shade of silk or rayon fabric. Excellent vintage condition. Upon inspection the only thing that was noticed is a tiny pinpoint hole at the inside of the left cuff. Also noticed a couple of extremely faint (very hard to find) tiny spots near the left hip. Please see last photo. Hard to see these, but I want to mention anything I see for accuracy.
