1930s Creme Chiffon Bias Evening Gown

1930s Crème Chiffon Bias Evening Gown

Beautiful flowing crème colored chiffon hugs the figure in this lovely and elegant 30s evening gown. Flattering scooped neckline that is just slightly off the shoulders has a small ruffle of shirred chiffon attached at the neckline. Sheer see-through long sleeves have a cuff with a tiny snap for closure at the wrist. The bodice of the dress is sheer chiffon that is over a taffeta lining. The bodice is made of many tiny pleats to form the soft folds across the bustline. At the waist is a wide insert that has double "v" accents to accentuate the waistline. The skirt falls from the waistline to form yards and yards of fabric that flows as you walk, or puddle at your feet. Very full and feminine skirt. The chiffon skirt is cut on the bias and is over an underlayer of netting and than another underlayer of taffeta that is cut on the bias. A very pretty, soft and airy look in an evening dress. Perfect for many special occasions. Label: none found. Very good vintage condition. As this fabric is vintage chiffon it is very delicate and there are several things that need to be mentioned as to the condition. At the neckline, the small "ruffle" was separately attached to the neckline and could use a few stitches to reinforce it to the neckline. Just starting to come loose in a couple of small areas. There are a few tiny holes in the chiffon and a side seam that could a few stitches for reinforcing. The holes are hard to see as they get lost in the voluminous skirt. Underneath, the netting skirt has holes in several areas of the netting skirt, but it is hard to see them as the chiffon layer covers over this netting underlayer.
