Vintage 1950s Ceil Chapman Watercolor Silk Floral Sarong Bombshell Dress

Ceil Chapman was known for her wonderful designs using her figure flattering technique of draped bodices. She was a master with fabric and created beautiful feminine designs. Her designs are highly collectible and sought after.

Here is a beautiful example of her work!! The perfect dress for so many occasions. What is even better about this particular dress is that it is in a very wearable larger size. We usually only see Ceil Chapman dresses in the smaller size, so this is a welcome addition!

This silk watercolor dress done in fabulous shades of red, rose, soft pale pink, lilac and olive green on a background of soft crème. The bodice is draped and tucked and is supported by four bones in the lining of the bodice. One on each side of the dress and two in the front of the bodice. The neckline is deeply squared. Flattering gentle pleating off to one side where it is met with a tie accent on the left side of the waist. Wonderfully sexy deep scoop at the back of the bodice. Sarong wrap skirt provides a fantastic look. There is a metal zipper down the center of the back. Fully lined in a white silk fabric. Excellent condition. We did find two small tears in the inside lining of the dress and three faint spots also on the inside of the lining. These cannot be seen on the outside of the dress as they are on the inside lining only.
