Vintage 1950s ANNE FOGARTY Red Velvet Dress Circle Skirt

This dress dates between 1950-1955 when Anne Fogarty worked for the Margot label. This famous American designer was known for her version of the New Look called the "Paper Doll" silhouette. The design elements of this look were the fitted bodice, dropped neckline and very full skirts. This dress is a perfect example of that style of design she made so famous. In addition this style of clothing earned her a Coty Award in 1951.

This timeless and elegant designer dress is just as perfect for that special occasion as it was over 50 years ago! Classic and elegant! Beautiful jewel tone ruby red velvet or velveteen fabric. Flattering scooped neckline, fitted through the bodice and waist with princess seams, flared through the skirt (makes almost a complete circle when laid out), and an inseam pocket at each hip. A very smart and classic look that is so perfect for many special occasions. Label: Anne Fogarty, Margot Inc. Excellent vintage condition. Upon VERY close inspection in a bright light we did notice some very, very faint underarm discoloration. If we didn't mention this, you would never notice it. This is impossible to see in evening light, as it is hard to see in day light. Also noticed a couple of very faint spots on the folds of the skirt- see photo detail. Also very hard to see unless you look very, very carefully for them. Also would be very difficult to see in evening light. Please note that we have not dry cleaned the dress.
